We are all drawn to people who smile, who are cheerful and have a happy disposition. They have a spring in their step, they go about life singing or whistling a tune, there is a sparkle in their eye, they greet people with sincere warmth, enthusiastic handshake and a big hug. I have a few friends who are such, and they are a delight to be with. Although they may be going through some rough patches at work, home or otherwise, nothing ever seem to phase them. They view life as an exciting journey to be experienced while embracing each day with a smile. There never seem a dull moment for them. What I do know is when someone smiles, it changes my mood and others' around me. Their smile is contagious if not infectious. Just having them around, it just brightens up the room. Their smiling faces look so much more beautiful as well.
I have noticed when people smile, relationships are on their way to being healed, problems are half way solved and disagreements are partly bridged. Boundaries start to melt, hearts begin to open up, arms start to open out, distances also reduced. Days become lighter and easier to bear, stress been relieved, depression can be avoided, immune system improved, blood pressure lowered. While a certain smile does make you appear calm and cheerful, it also can give you a sense of well-being, changes your emotional state by helping you feel happier and more confident. Smiling also puts you in a positive frame of mind, which then opens up possibilities and real opportunities in life. You will also view the world through positive eyes. You will start to look more attractive and welcoming in the other person's eyes, and might even find that you are now becoming more popular, have more friends and are more influential over others.
Smiling take just way too much effort. Life is rough as it is, what is the purpose of putting extra energy into smiling when I seriously do not feel like wanting to smile? Well, it honestly takes more muscles to frown than to smile. A sincere smile is the true advertisement of a calm, courageous spirit. It imparts to all who see it a portion of the courage and faith from which it comes, and will help to make the day a little bit better for everybody.

A smile costs nothing but gives much. It enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he cannot get along without it and none is so poor that he cannot be made rich by it. Yet a smile cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that is of no value to anyone until it is given away. Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give. ~Author Unknown
